Drivers have a 30-minute window to declare which tires they will start on, and Alex Palou had second thoughts. But it was too late, so the race strategy changed and gave them a bad start. And an in-race call by strategist Barry Wanser upset Palou.

Alex Palou just needed to finish within a couple of positions of teammate Scott Dixon to secure his 2023 IndyCar championship. He did one better, winning the race in dominant fashion.
