xAI claims that a change on Monday, July 7th, “triggered an unintended action” that added an older series of instructions to its system prompts telling it to be “maximally based,” and “not afraid to offend people who are politically correct.”

AI apologized for its Grok AI chatbot's abusive and anti-Semitic behavior, attributing it to a deprecated code update. The company has since removed the problematic code and refactored the system to prevent future incidents.

The response comes after X's Grok chatbot began spewing antisemitic and pro-Hitler comments earlier this week.
