Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo has thanked his teammates, Liverpool’s players and the soccer community as a whole for the “overwhelming messages of support” he received after reporting that he was racially abused by a fan during the Premier League’s season opener at Anfield.
A 47-year-old Liverpool fan who was last seen in a wheelchair was arrested Saturday after allegedly shouting racial slurs at Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo in a stunning scene that led to Friday’s Premier League opener in England being delayed for several minutes.
