When their children disappeared, authorities failed to act, so grieving families were forced to search instead.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said Monday she spoke with U.S. President Donald Trump over the weekend and that both leaders agreed to extend a looming trade deadline for several weeks as negotiations continue on outstanding issues with Washington.
CBC News accompanied several mothers in the search for their missing children in Mexico City. The capital is the first jurisdiction in the country to use a pattern-based strategy to find the about 7,000 people listed as disappeared in the city.
