Even Superman gets hurt. On a recent episode of Vanity Fair’s “Lie Detector Test,” David Corenswet, while hooked up to a polygraph, was asked by co-star Nicholas Hoult about the “wildest bruise” he got while starring in “Superman.

“She helped me make my first self-tape for the part, and she felt at that point that I should get the part,” he recalled in a People interview.

“I needed somebody who could play Jor-El, who had the stature of what we imagine that character to be,” Gunn told ‘ET’ ( via Esquire ).

Despite the odds, Gunn’s Superman not only reached the high bar set by Donner’s film, but it actually improved upon the latter on several fronts, making it a far superior movie.
