Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced Monday that Grok will be included on the Department of Defense’s new internal AI platform, GenAI.mil, alongside tools like Google’s Gemini, despite the chatbot facing international bans, regulatory scrutiny, and repeated controversies over racism, antisemitism, and nonconsensual image generation.
“The Department of War remains steadfast in our commitment to suicide prevention. The Annual Report on Suicide in the Military offers validated data to support focused and effective prevention efforts; strengthen the health, safety, and well-being of our warfighters and their families; and advance force readiness,” officials said in the statement.
Pentagon officials say they have reaffirmed to members of Congress that policies protecting troops from physical abuse remain in effect.
