A winter weather advisory is in effect through tonight in the western and eastern Upper Peninsula, where 3 to 10 inches of lake effect snow was expected beginning Tuesday night. The Iron Mountain area was expected to see an inch or less of snow,

A strong cold front brought a round of dangerous cold on Monday, with below-zero wind chills in the early morning. Wind chills will remain cold on Monday in the teens, before a return to more average temperatures for New Year's.

Make sure to bundle up before you head out the door this morning with the big temperature swing in north Georgia.

Even when it's very cold outside, most people can safely walk or exercise outside in the winter, but not when the wind chill is well below zero.

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and cold with lows in the teens. Strong wind gusts drop wind chills to near zero by daybreak. TOMORROW: Very cold in the morning with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid-20s.

Wind chills in the teens-low 20s by Tuesday morning across southeast Louisiana and south Mississippi. Prolonged exposure can lead to hypothermia risk.
