Microsoft Outlook is playing catch-up with Gmail, with a new look and features that include a dark mode. Another new feature is Categories, which adds tags to email notifications in the inbox list.

Microsoft says it is working on a dark mode for Outlook.com. However, the feature previewed last year “required a lot more work to be ready for prime time,” it writes.
