US President Donald Trump stated that up to five fighter jets were shot down during the recent hostilities between India and Pakistan. Speaking at a dinner with Republican lawmakers, Trump mentioned the figure while discussing the conflict that followed an April attack in India-administered Kashmir.

Pakistan claimed it downed five Indian planes in air-to-air combat. India also claimed it downed "a few planes" of Pakistan. But Islamabad denied suffering any losses of planes.

In his remarks at a White House dinner on Friday, the US president, however, did not provide specific details such as whether the jets were downed by either of the two countries or if he was referring to combined losses by both sides.
