After throwing 31 mostly effective pitches in a return from a calf strain in July and triceps soreness that popped up on Sept. 21, Senga has emerged as an enticing possibility for the Mets. They used Senga as a two-frame opener to get the ball to David Peterson, Reed Garrett, Phil Maton and Ryne Stanek to finish off a well-pitched victory.

Kodai Senga allowed a run over two innings in his return to the New York Mets’ rotation in Game 1 of the National League Division Series. Senga was making his first start in over two months, and he was doing so in the cauldron of October baseball at Citizens Bank Park.

He tossed two innings and allowed one run in the Mets’ 6-2 victory over the Phillies in the first game of the NL Division Series. After allowing a 425-foot home run to his first batter, Kyle Schwarber, he settled in to retire six of seven.
