I found a Two Toed Amphiuma! Our very own Floridians “axolotl”! Unlike axolotl 2 toes amphiumas have only one pair of limbs & lack those feathery gills axolotls have. They are also very “eel-like” & is often confused as one. Their diet however can be very similar being mostly small invertebrates. Now there is one more fun fact… There is a more “axolotl” like creature native to Florida that isn’t an amphiuma. Go on the explore page & look up “Florida Greater Siren”. I heard someone wonder aloud whether it is actually just a thin gray sock stuffed with tapioca, so here is a video of it eating a shrimp to prove that it does move sometimes! These amphibians are found in ponds, swamps, and other still muddy waters in the southeastern United States. Don't be fooled by their slightly goofy appearance.
