APTN News • Moose hunting season begins next week near Bloodvein River First Nation in eastern Manitoba. But non-Indigenous hunters will be turned away at check stops managed by the community in an effort to protect the moose population and their food security. Chief Angela Levasseur Bloodvein River First Nation Chief Lisa Young says the decision to ban Nation non-Indigenous people from hunting moose in the area comes after years overhunting by big game enthusiasts. She says results of the 2024
