In August 1966, The Doors “unofficially” signed with Elektra Records. Elektra’s president at the time, Jac Holzman, approached the band with a deal. They took their time, hired a lawyer, and by August 18 had unofficially signed to Elektra - making it official that November. The rest, as they say, is history.
