Lions are thriving in Akagera National Park after almost two decades of absence due to human-lion conflict, encroachment, and poaching. Recently, Akagera National Park spotted six new lion cubs in the park that are estimated to be around 4-6 weeks old! Their team suspects that Umwari is the mother of all the cubs, who is one the five original lionesses reintroduced to Akagera in 2015. As part of this reintroduction, our partners at African Parks reintroduced six other lions to the park in 2015,
